Payment of Stamp Duties on Lease Agreements Notice

Please note that ALL lease agreements entered in Namibia MUST be stamped in terms of the Stamp Duty Act of 1993. This means that revenue stamps MUST be affixed to lease agreements.

The amount of the stamp duty depends on the amount of rent payable over the period of the lease as stated in the Schedule 1 of the Stamp Duty Act. The duty MUST be denoted on the original lease agreement. Stamp duty must also be paid on a copy of the original contract, subject to a prescribed limit.
