Windhoek Estate Agents Reminded to Obtain Signboard Licences

Estate agents in Windhoek are being reminded that they need approval from the City of Windhoek before putting up property signboards such as “For Sale”, “To Let”, “Sold” or “On Show” within the city.
The City says failure to comply could result in the removal of signs and financial penalties.
The City of Windhoek says the requirement is in line with the Local Authorities Act of 1992, as amended, and the Outdoor Advertising Regulations.
According to the public notice, estate agents are required to obtain written permission from the municipal council before displaying advertising signs on the city's road reserves.
Agents who wish to display estate agency signboards must have a valid NEAB Fidelity Fund Certificate and apply for an Estate Agents’ Signboard Annual Licence before 31 January each year.
The licence fee for the 2025/2026 period is N$4 302.16 per agent per year, including VAT.
Estate agents whose signage appears in this story in the NewsOnOne evening bulletin of 16 September, said they are registered and have licenses.
